Monks dont drop their Items
« on: April 17, 2016, 11:46:28 AM »
Monks drop items, if they do training, thats fine, but while engaging an enemy, they dont drop their carried items, so they a well trained Monk fights a Lizard with a Grain and dies, because he cant either dodge nor attack well. Fighting Skill is around 100, but without dropping Grain, he cant use its fighting skill.

Similiar with Woodcutter, trained as Monks, he is well trained as Monk, but a lizard spanws next to him, he dont drop the axe and ingnores the uniform settings.

This also happens with 2 handed range weapons, a well trained sniper engage an enemy with Grain.

Do you have the option "retreat to equip uniform" set for each of the positions in the military window?

No, its odd that they don't listen, I would uncheck the maintain sight option, as I think it may be that the gnomes don't want to "lose" the enemy even if it means not retreating to equip what they need.
I am guessing the military were doing jobs close to where the fight started?

Its regardless of the positions of enemy and gnome. If my Tankgnomes tank a group of enemy and *call* other gnomes for help, the other gnomes come to help, but keep carrying the actual item like doors, grain, etc instead of using their Blunderbuss for example.

This also happens, if your Woodcutter for example cutts wood and you see anywhere a lizard you want to fight and you send this squad to the lizard, the woodcutter wont drop its axe and loosing all their abilities.

Send them to a training ground before engaging the enemy,
that should make them drop what they are carrying and equip proper weapons.

Guard post works too...

If you can stomach the micromanagement, that is.

Maybe you are right, but would be nice, if this could be fixed.

Especially, if you want to send them as guard, you have to set the game to pause everytime an enemy appears, but in addition i would like to see an option to not automatic jump to the seen enemy, thats the main reason i have disabled this option.

Pause when seen enemy, but not jump to location by default would be nice, since you can still manual jump to position by clicking the notice at bottom left border.
