Suggestion: Save Game History
« on: October 10, 2015, 01:38:51 AM »
I'm sure this had to be suggested already, but I did a search and did not see it.  So I have a saved game that immediately hangs indefinitely after I press play.  I fortunately have a old saved game that is about one gnome year back.  If there was an automatic save game history where the last X save game files were retained, I would be able to access my previous saved game file which would be a gnome day old since I auto save every gnome day.  If this feature is already available, please point me in the right direction.  If not, I know that I can do this manually, but I'm sure this would be useful since there are a number of reasons why having that history automatically available could be a "lifesaver".

search the other forum sections, there have been a few third party tools to help with this. savegame manager or somesuch. Would be lovely in the main game, but for now 3rd party things can work.

I point my save game directory to a directory in Dropbox, and use its history feature to be able to automatically revert my save games if/when necessary...

Nice, I didn't know dropbox had a history feature.

It does have a history feature, but it shouldn't be limitless. Eventually old backups gets deleted and I don't know how long they will be kept. But it probably helps for sudden save game corruption at least.
