[MOD Note: I have downloaded and verified this does in fact not contain any game files, you will need to download either the demo or full version for this to work. This is not released by Robotronic games so use it at your own risk -bvierra]

Removed all of the posts about pirating since it requires the installer and includes no game files. Thanks to evdude100 for getting this created and distributing it!

bvierra, thanks for confirming this.  I don't have a Mac so I couldn't do it, but it sounded like it was just a way to make it work on Macs.  :)

evdude, thanks for creating this. I have tried to instal the setup.exe without success. After selecting the setup file, Wineskin seems to be doing something then shows this:

"Oops!
No new executables found!

Maybe the installer failed...?

If you tried to install somewhere other than C: drive (drive_c in the wrapper_ then you get this message too. All software must be installed in C: drive."

I am running OSX 10.6.8 on an iMac.

Cheers

It might be your xquartz version, Xquartz broke a long time ago on 10.x.2.

Download the latest version of quartz (http://xquartz.macosforge.org/downloads/SL/XQuartz-2.7.4.dmg) and restart.
Then, retry the installation.

If you still cannot get it working download this: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/X112.7.5, restart, and retry.

Let me know.

Hi evdude, Thanks for your help. I'm afraid I still get the same error after installing and rebooting for both XQuartz.

Any other ideas?

Cheers.

Install teamviewer and get on IRC (http://gnomoria.com/?page_id=188).
I'll try to see what's going on.

I don't know if this can help. Here's the crash report from wine.

EDIT: I finally managed to install Gnomoria in the wrapper. For this, I had to change the engine to 1.5.1 and rebuild the wrapper.
I still get an error when I run the .app - the log report says "user.reg is not a valid registry file". Any ideas?

You have to delete the reg files in the resource folder. However, gnomoria doesn't work on 1.5.1. Try setting it to 1.5.12 and don't rebuild. If that still won't work, keep going down.

Another thing is, the wrapper seems to be corrupted, although I have no idea why. Are you on a third party HD? Is your HD formatted HFS+ (OSX Journaled)?

It finds the dylib, but it's corrupted. If you still have issues, I'll copy over the dylib for you to replace.

Also, try to keep the asking for help in either location (portingteam or here), not both. Thanks (:

FIXED

The corruption came from decompressing the file using Stuffit Expander. The Unarchiver did a better job.

Thanks again for your help!

This is MOST excellent. I've actually got me a PC (read: claimed an old office PC for free) just for Gnomoria - well, and Terraria and some other games, but mainly Gnomoria. This quite elegant solution works like a charm though, so I can now direct my gnomes in glorious 1080p resolution on my Mac Pro.

I had actually tried before with WineBuilder and Crossover, but neither really worked. Anyway, thanks to the OP for this - it's brilliant. Works like a charm, too.

Any advice on getting this to work with the Steam version? I bought via Steam and we don't get a setup.exe. Tried copying over the contents of SteamApps/Common/Gnomoria, but it hangs when I launch via the wrapper.

I'll work on this next week, it should be a pretty easy fix.

Hi

The build also works with Steam, you just need to work around a few issues. Steam won't display text or take written input with the WS9Wine1.5.27 engine (at least with me), but it will do so with the WS8Wine1.5.0 engine. Problem is, Gnomoria won't run with the WS8Wine1.5.0 engine. Luckily, the only thing you will need Steam for is installing the game. So, switch the engine to WS8Wine1.5.0 before installing Steam (download from steampowered.com), login and download Gnomoria. When it is installed, change the engine back to WS9Wine 1.5.27, and change the "Windows EXE" entry (presumably instead of steam.exe) to "/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Gnomoria/Gnomoria.exe" before launching.

Enjoy.

I liked the idea and tried a standard Wine installation first. It worked with Steam, but not with Gnomoria (despite the freshest Mono it couldn't find some libraries). But then I tried it with the tools above, and got it to work on my Mac Mini.

At first it was a bit slow working 6 to 15 seconds, that freezing 2 or 4, but after closing everything and starting it anew it worked quite well. I still have an original one-button mouse on the Mac, and could not simulate the rightclik with the control key, though, so I couldn't really play. But good to know that I have a backup,  if my main PC breaks :-)
