New new challenge:

Run a kingdom purely made of automatons, only from the metal scraps off the goblins.

Reminds me of the scene from Iron Man, "Fizzle was able to build this in a cave! With a box of scraps!"

General / Cat stepping down as moderator

Greetings all,

I've had a wonderful time assisting RoboB0b, bvierra, and Merry76 with moderating the forums. As time has passed I've had less time for gaming overall, and with that less time to be here assisting on the forums. I have a few projects that I'm involved in that use up much of my free time, and have a few real life changes that are coming up here soon that ultimately mean I wouldn't have time to do my part here as a moderator.

You're in the very capable hands of bvierra and Merry76, though, so there won't be any real changes after I hand back the moderator keys. I'll still be around to keep up with updates and hear what sorts of interesting developments come along for Gnomoria, though!

It's been a wonderful experience to see a game and community grow from something so small to several thousand players. I look forward to many more long hours of sniping beetles from a cozy perch and creating a mecha-gnome monk army. Happy gaming, and I hope you have some fun now that the next patch has just dropped!

Respectfully yours,

That's actually pretty cool! I like it!

General / Using the report to moderator utility
« on: October 26, 2014, 03:21:43 PM »
Every topic and reply submitted to the Gnomoria forums has a link in the bottom right corner that says "Report to moderator." Once you click that button, You are displayed with a brief explanation on the feature and given a comment box where you can describe what you believe to be the issue with the post.

This is single-handedly the best way to highlight an issue on the forums. If you are not sure if a post is breaking a rule or guideline, feel free to submit a report anyway. I personally would prefer reviewing one rule breaking post instead of removing many posts that take a thread off topic.

In short, let the moderator team handle issues, and do not take it in your own hands to fix the issue as this could escalate the situation. Let us do the dirty work!

I appreciate you taking the time to check out this post. The moderation team does not have the time to read every single topic and reply, so it falls on the community as a whole to properly maintain the forums. Thanks!

If you would like a refresher on the rules for our forum, they are stickyed in every single sub-forum. Here's a link though!

I agree that this discussion has turned toxic and should have been closed earlier. Here are a few reminders I would like to add before I lock this thread.

Moderators do not read every post.  We rely on your reports to highlight when a post needs moved or is breaking a rule. Making personal shout-outs in a thread is not the proper way to report rule-breaking content. In addition, I ask that everyone continue to respect each other and their views on this forum, regardless of if you agree or not. Everyone (except some spam accounts that get flagged for deletion) here deserves to be treated kind and fairly.

While the discussion itself is valid, if it can not be done in a civil manner, it won't be done. Not in this thread. If someone feels they can handle a thread that deals with update frequency and patching of Gnomoria, then I will allow it. Until then, this thread is locked and posts that break the rules and guidelines of the forum will be removed.

Suggestions / Re: How to Spoil Food

Let's keep on topic here, now that you've worked out your differences.

I think we can all understand that not all suggestions are implemented, and we all understand that RoboB0b is busy with his own priorities within the game. I feel Merry76 gets the closest in saying it right now, that there should be some sort of system, but one that isn't unbearable.

I am merging this thread with the older thread R86 brought up. Using the search function before posting a new thread is a great way to find out if there is already another thread related to your topic!

I'm not sure I see the need to have resurrected this post, since we already can switch from peaceful to normal now. Also Deathmage, I'm not seeing the relevancy of your post to this one. I'm locking this thread now since its purpose is no longer needed and is now causing off-topic posts.

Could you perhaps take a screenshot of what you're seeing? There shouldn't be any advertisements on the forum at all, if that's what you are seeing.

Also, I wonder if it's cool that we are posting all these suggestions here, considering this post is in the general category and there actually IS one just for suggestions. Can a moderator clarify this for me? Are we in trouble? ^_^

As long as these are related to the Road to Release topic, then sure. Of course, they'll probably get more traction in the suggestions thread as their own topics.

That's interesting that you actually work on the project, lots of talent here on the forums! The art style is aesthetically pleasing to me. Can't wait to learn more as time goes on!
